The Gulf Coast Oil Spill:
The Cost of Half-a-Million Dollars

I hear they saved a half-a-million dollars.
It only cost 8 million as it stands
But in the oil slick they've sighted lawyers'
Pale cutting fins so that cost will expand.

A half-a-million for a piece of metal,
Some valve? No doubt it cost a lot of money.
In other countries where the regulators meddle
They bleed BP for things like 'public safety'

But in America they saved that half-a-million
Because the business of our country's business:
The cost of freedom's just a little destruction
But who lost more, those companies or us?

More than a half-a-million on the Coast
Have lost their way of life, perhaps forever,
While corporations loose, perhaps at most,
The profits that they make in just one quarter.
